In 2020, CNHTC realized counter-trend growth in the face of the severe challenges of the epidemic, and its vehicle sales exceeded 500,000 units for the first time, and its market share increased significantly. On January 24, 2019, CNHTC held the 8th Workers Congress of the 17th session. On October 1, 2019, during the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China, the colorful Shandong "Guotai Minan" truck manufactured by CNHTC drove through Tiananmen Square, and was honored to receive the parade by leaders of the Party and the State and the people of the whole country.

On November 3, 2019, the third China Enterprise Reform and Development Forum officially opened, attracting over 1,400 representatives of entrepreneurs, experts and scholars from central enterprises, local state-owned enterprises, and private enterprises. On April 12, 2018, the worlds first unmanned electric truck manufactured by CNHTC started trial operation at Tianjin Port. Its model number is "HOWO-T5G" and is equipped with the worlds advanced driving system and a mature and reliable pure electric central drive control system, integrating innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, vehicle networking, cloud computing, new energy, and new materials.

On September 1, 2018, with the consent of the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and the decision of the Jinan Municipal Party Committee, Comrade Tan Xuguang was appointed as Party Secretary and Chairman of CNHTC. On January 15, 2011, Sinotruk held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new plant of Fujian Haixi Automobile Co., Ltd. with an initial investment of 1 billion yuan.

On July 12, 2012, Sinotruk and Finnish Cargotec officially signed a joint venture in Hong Kong, and the two parties will cooperate in automotive lifting equipment and other aspects.

On August 16, 2015, the Science and Technology Center of CNHTC was officially opened. Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Peoples Republic of China, the Science and Technology Center is the only  national heavy-duty vehicle engineering technology research center in the country and is the second tallest building put into use in Jinan and the first tallest building in the eastern part of Jinan. The official opening of the Science and Technology Center has opened a new chapter for the better development of CNHTC.

On September 19, 2015, Shandong HOWO Automotive Finance Co., Ltd., controlled by CNHTC, opened for business. Shandong HOWO Automotive Finance Co., Ltd. is a non-bank financial institution approved by the China Banking Regulatory Commission and the first automotive finance company in Shandong Province. With comprehensive risk control, efficient business processes, and a professional management team, the company actively innovates and expands its business products to serve the automobile finance market in Shandong Province and even the whole country.

On December 13, 2017, CNHTC held the millionth HOWO heavy-duty truck offline ceremony of "Million Heroes Witness Million HOWOs". HOWO is an international national brand of heavy trucks in China, and its products are exported to more than 90 countries and regions, ranking first in domestic heavy truck export for 13 consecutive years. HOWO heavy trucks that go abroad in large quantities not only occupy a place in the international market, but also interpret the core meaning of Made in China for the world with their high quality.

On November 28, 2007, CNHTC was listed on the main board of HKSE in the form of red chips, with the name Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited and a stock code of 3808.

On July 15, 2009, Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Limited officially signed a contract with Maschinenfabrik Augsburg Nürnberg to implement strategic cooperation in capital, technology, products, market, and other aspects.

In 1984, with the approval of the state, China National Heavy Truck Associates was established, which took Jinan Automobile Manufacturing General Factory as the main body and absorbed other domestic manufacturers of complete vehicles, engines and parts.

In 1984, China National Heavy Truck Associates introduced complete vehicle technology from the Austrian Steyr company, with Jinan Automobile Manufacturing General Factory as the main project unit and jointly produced the "Steyr" series of heavy trucks in China.In 1990, with the approval of the State Council, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. was formed with China National Heavy Truck Associates as the main entity and other related business entities.

On April 5, 1995, the Steyr project passed the check of the state.

On July 25, 2000, Premier Zhu Rongji of the State Council presided over the 74th Premiers Office Meeting and decided to divide China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. into three parts, which were respectively delegated to Shandong Province, Shaanxi Province, and Chongqing City for management. The main part is delegated to Shandong Province for management, and the name " China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd." is retained.
