China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sinotruk), formerly known as Jinan Automobile Manufacturing General Factory, was founded in 1930, which is the cradle of Chinas heavy-duty vehicle industry. In 1960, it produced Chinas first heavy-duty vehicle, the Yellow River JN150 8-ton truck, ending the history of Chinas inability to produce heavy-duty vehicles. On May 4, 1960, Chairman Mao Zedong inspected Jinan, visited the prototype and gave it high praise. On January 11, 1966, Chairman Zhu De inscribed Yellow River in his own handwriting. In the early stages of socialist construction, the Yellow River vehicle gained nationwide fame and made significant contributions to the development of the national economy and national defense construction, becoming one of the iconic achievements of the Chinese nations self-reliance and hard work. In 1983, under the care of Comrade Deng Xiaoping, the Austrian Steyr heavy-duty vehicle project was successfully introduced, making it the first domestic enterprise to comprehensively introduce foreign heavy-duty vehicle manufacturing technology. Steyr once became a synonym for heavy trucks in China.

Mr. Tan Xuguang, born in Weifang, Shandong Province, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), doctor of Engineering of Tianjin University, is a senior engineer. Currently, he is the Chairman and General Manager of Shandong Heavy Industry Group Co., Ltd., and also the Secretary of the commission of the CPC of Shandong Heavy Industry Group Co., Ltd., Chairman and Chief Scientist of Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd., Chairman of China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd., Chairman, Chief Engineer of Weichai Power Co., Ltd., Director of the State Key Laboratory of Engine and Powertrain System and Director of Expert Committee of National Center of Technology Innovation for Fuel Cell.
Member of the 14th CPPCC National Committee, Member of the Population, Resources and Environment Committee, Vice President of China Federation of Industrial Economics, Vice President of China Enterprise Confederation/China Entrepreneur Association, Vice Chairman of Chineses Mechanical Engineering Society, and Vice Chairman of Chinese Society for Internal Combustion Engines.
He has been engaged in internal combustion engine and power system technology innovation and engineering management for more than 40 years, and is an industry leader and technology entrepreneur in this field, with a high influence in the global industry. He has won the National Model Worker (2005, 2020), the "Most beautiful striver" in the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, the National Outstanding Entrepreneur, the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Prizes, the National Innovation Award, the Leonardo International Award in Italy, the Highest Science and Technology Award in Shandong Province, the Qilu Outstanding Talent Award, the Outstanding Entrepreneur in Shandong Province, and the Taishan industry leading talent. He has won 15 provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards, one of which is the National First prize for Scientific and Technological Progress as the first sponsor, three of which are special prizes in provincial and ministerial level, three of which are first prizes in provincial and ministerial level.On January 19, 2024, Tan Xuguang was awarded the title of "National Excellent Engineer".
