On February 5, the first working day after the Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake, Shandong Heavy Industry Group launched the 'First Lesson on Work Resumption' initiative to thoroughly implement the provincial party committee and government’s directives on workplace safety. This initiative strictly adhered to the spirit of the Provincial Safety Committee Office’s Notice on Organizing the 'First Lesson on Work Resumption' to Strengthen Safety Measures During the Resumption of Work and Production. The event aimed to further enhance awareness of workplace safety, reinforce the implementation of primary safety responsibilities, and ensure a firm commitment to “workplace safety” during the resumption of operations, laying a solid foundation for safety management throughout the year. Wang Zhijian, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Manager, and Director of the Safety Committee of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, delivered the keynote lecture.
The conference conveyed and studied General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions regarding the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Dingri County, Rikaze City, Tibet, along with key statements on workplace safety. It also covered the key takeaways from the provincial emergency management conference and the plenary (expanded) conference of the Provincial Government Safety Committee. A thorough analysis of the national and provincial workplace safety landscape was conducted, along with an in-depth review of lessons learned from safety incidents, serving as a stark reminder to all employees to reinforce the mindset that 'safety is no small matter—every detail must be taken seriously.'
Wang Zhijian emphasized the need to strengthen organizational leadership, urging all levels of leadership to firmly shoulder and take charge of workplace safety responsibilities. He stressed the strict implementation of the “Three Managements, Three Musts” principle and “called for a strong sense” of duty to meticulously and rigorously enforce safety measures. He underscored the importance of reinforcing accountability by fully implementing a company-wide safety responsibility system. This includes signing safety responsibility agreements at all levels to clearly define the specific duties of each unit and department, fostering a culture where everyone prioritizes and actively participates in workplace safety. Wang also highlighted the need to focus on key tasks in alignment with the Group’s 2025 safety management objectives. He urged comprehensive efforts in workplace safety, including enhancing safety education, training, and emergency drills to strengthen employees’ awareness of risks, bottom-line thinking, and sense of responsibility.
During the conference, employees also watched safety awareness films, including Life Above All and The Red Line, as part of a collective effort to educate and mobilize staff. This initiative aimed to strengthen safety awareness, eliminate complacency, and encourage employees to approach their work with heightened enthusiasm, determination, and a pragmatic work ethic.
Currently, all subsidiaries of Shandong Heavy Industry Group have fully resumed operations. Various units have adopted different formats for conducting the 'First Lesson on Work Resumption,' ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. With a proactive approach to safety and innovation, the Group is dedicated to achieving a strong first quarter, securing early-year growth, and paving the way for high-quality development throughout 2025.
